About
Dr. Avi provides individual, group, and family therapy for all individuals 13+ including those in the individual's support system. Dr. Avi also provides gender transition evaluations and referrals for hormones and surgery which follow WPATH standards of care in a way that minimizes gatekeeping and focuses on affirmation and support. Dr. Avi earned both masters and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from the Arizona School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University - Phoenix, later completing an APA-approved internship at The University of Colorado Boulder's Counseling and Psychological Services Center. At CU Boulder, Dr. Avi created an integrated mental health and medical program for LGBTQ+ students. Dr. Avi has experience in a variety of treatment settings involving mood disorders, adolescent/young adult issues, substance use, eating disorders, and related Sexual/Gender Identity concerns. Dr. Avi has also been involved in a number of LGBTQ organizations and events. "As an active member of the LGBTQ community, I know the importance of having a provider who is genuine, empathic, warm, and understanding of the issues others in the community face. I am also aware of specific challenges in finding appropriate trans care, and work to reduce gatekeeping for those seeking transition services."
