Mischa Cohen Peck, MA, MSW, PhD - Q Counseling Services

About

As a transwoman, it is an honor and a privilege to work with members of my own communities and to assist them on their journeys toward increased authenticity. I have more than 25 years of clinical, scholarly, and community experience in working with trans*, gender non-conforming and queer communities. I value the uniqueness of every person’s narrative and path toward growth. I strive for the utmost in professionalism whilst diligently doing all I can to facilitate a safe and nurturing counseling environment in which all clients can thrive. Please contact me with any questions. I have been a longtime leader in trans*, gender expansive, and queer communities. I am a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (www.wpath.org) and have served on the board of Trans Spectrum of Arizona. I own owns and operate Q Counseling (www.QCounseling.com), and specialize in work with sexual and gender minority persons across the lifespan. I also am an EMDR therapist, serve on the board of the EMDR International Association (www.emdria.org), and have been a leader in the Arizona Trauma Recovery Network (www.aztrn.org). I continue to learn and infuse current knowledge about the brain and healing into my clinical work. During my academic career I have received multiple research and training grants, taught undergraduate and graduate courses, and published numerous scholarly articles. As summer faculty at Smith College School for Social Work, I teach graduate-level courses about trans* and gender nonconforming mental health issues and public policy issues. I have a strong sense of social justice, with a history includes grassroots activism (ACT UP, Queer Nation) volunteer service, board membership, and civic activity. During my spare time, I am a gourmet cook, metalsmith and jewelry-maker, collector of art, purveyor of culture, writer, and the best friend of Eloise, a beautiful whippet.
